About Brian Laing
Entrepreneur • Community Builder • Founder • President, Laing Self Storage & The Lainger Group
Brian Laing is a lifelong Southern Tier entrepreneur dedicated to building local businesses, supporting local families, and strengthening the community he has always called home.
As President of Laing Self Storage, Brian leads one of the fastest-growing self-storage brands in Broome and Chenango Counties, with locations in Binghamton, Conklin, Endicott, Endwell, Greene, and expansion into new towns across the region. His focus is simple: clean, secure, locally owned storage facilities that give people peace of mind during life’s biggest transitions—moving, downsizing, renovating, starting over, or starting fresh.
Brian also serves as President of Laing Industries, a family-operated truck and trailer repair company founded in 1970. With more than 50 years of history, Laing Industries has become a trusted name in the Southern Tier, known for its craftsmanship, customer care, and long-standing commitment to quality.
Beyond business, Brian is deeply rooted in community service. He is the founder and chairman of The Constance Foundation, a nonprofit created in memory of his aunt Connie, who battled breast cancer. The foundation is known for its signature event, Hockey 4 Hope, an annual charity hockey game that brings together former pros, college talent, and local athletes to help families facing the financial burden of cancer. Over the years, Hockey 4 Hope has grown into a major community event that reflects Brian’s belief that sports have the power to unite people and make a real difference.
Brian’s journey began at The Hill School, where he graduated in 1996, followed by a Business Management and Finance degree from SUNY Oswego in 2001. After graduating college and chasing down a hockey career, he moved to Carlsbad, California, where he co-founded Athletes Edge, a sports conditioning center for competitive athletes. In 2005, he returned to the Binghamton area to continue building the Laing family’s legacy—expanding their businesses, creating new opportunities, and investing back into the community that raised him.
Recognized as one of Central New York’s “40 Under Forty” award recipients, Brian is known for his leadership, philanthropy, and commitment to both business excellence and community impact.
When he isn’t growing the Laing family of companies or organizing charitable events, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife Meghan and 3 daughters – Penelope, Capri & Eva while traveling, reading, and staying connected to the sports world—especially hockey.
